About
Mary took her first course in metalsmithing from Ken Bova at Penland School of Art. She continued her education taking classes from some of the most popular jewelry designers. Ken suggested that she continue classes with Sandie Zilker at Glassell School of Art in Houston. Mary took classes from Sandie for many years. She then went on to study enameling from Jan Harrell at Glassell for a number of years as well. For several years she studied with Diane Falkenhagen at Alvin Community College. Mary and her husband formerly owned a ranch and deer breeding facility in Llano, Texas where she became fascinated with deer antlers and how to use them in jewelry pieces.
